The most valuable thing we possess and others possess is actually not found in our stuff, but in something the writers of scripture call “a soul.” We are taught more about how to care for our cars than how to care well for our souls. But you cannot have an impactful life with an impoverished soul.
Prayer is coming home to God. It is the center-point to life with God and essential for caring well for our souls.
When we are in God’s word and God’s word is in us our heart are aligned with God’s heart and our souls are aligned with truth and direction. Just like when we physically eat well our life is transformed, when we spiritually eat well our soul is transformed.

To grow deeper and care well for our souls we must discover who we are according to Jesus. Knowing who we are and who we are not, it is essential to a flourishing life with God.
There is nothing that comes through our hands that competes for our heart like money. Money is never emotionally neutral. It is always revealing what we value and who we trust with our life. When we direct our treasures, we are direct our heart and care well for our souls.
Outside of your family, over time the depth of your friendships will determine the direction of your life and the depth of your soul.
Forgiveness is integral to healthy soul care. We live in a world polluted by sin and shame, and relationships in this broken world are often marked by disappointment, loss, and pain. The call of God throughout the Scriptures is to be empower by the Spirit to forgive.
